Hello.. I was diagnosed with a large PE almost a month ago, around 3 weeks after surgery on a broken leg. I have been on anti-coagulants (Riveroxeban) and so far so good. I feel stronger each day and now that my leg is out of plaster, my mobility is increasing. However this morning I have woken up feeling like death. I feel nauseous, I have a stitch like pain all down my left hand side and I have absolutely no energy. I am guessing the blood thinners are doing their work and the clot is breaking up...
is this usual ? can you feel fine one day and then terrible the next ?
Thankyou
Bella.

Yes, one can feel fine one day and terrible the next. I am five years post massive sadle PE. I never returned to normal despite exercise and doing all the right things. Those years were not so bad, as I took up other interests. This last year has been incredibly difficult with days of extreme fatigue. I remain in contact with physicians and specialists. I do mildly subnormal on some pulmonary testing, but my heart looks ok. I do have some "ratty looking" small arteries from the initial event. I happened to surf the topic today and found two articles from research on what is termed post-PE syndrome -- one from Canada and one from USA. This syndrome, if it is real, is being further researched. But Bella, do not worry, you will fully recover. Just be patient. I write this for people who are several years out from their PE. Oh, I do not have CTEPH, and I should not have lived through the initial event. Be of good cheer. If there are others like me, I urge you not to feel like you are nuts, although should counseling if depressed, etc. Best wishes, Tom
